about

Sasha Perera opens the front door to a hand-picked huddle of like minds of '7G Home Additions', extending last year's 'Home' with a suite of remixes that highlight not only her connection to the rapidly evolving Berlin scene but philosophical harmonies that resonate across the globe.

On last year's 'Home', Perera pulled listeners into her private space, balancing apocalyptic avant-pop belters with esoteric instrumental experiments. Puzzled out during the pandemic, the album reflected on the juxtaposition of elsewhere and home, building on the doom folk of her past and adorning it with powerful percussion, futuristic synth and even trumpet. Melting elements pulled from her former time in London and her current life in Berlin with a freewheeling personal narrative and vivid, imaginative instrumentation, Perera found her musical home.

Perera keeps it in the family on the opening pair of remixes, first linking with US vocalist Eddington Again and British producer Neana, before handing the keys to her friends and regular collaborators Born in Flamez and Neven.Eddington and Neana's rework of 'Like This' appears after a series of live shows and experimentation, offering a tantalizing first taste of the trio's sensual and futuristic disintegration of funk pop, while Born in Flamez and Neven drive Heatwave' from the beach to the club, embellishing Perera's original with electrified, grime-y kicks, helium vocal chops and acidic synths.

From here we're dropped into Egypt's underground with a remix of 'Hold Tite' from Cairo's 3phaz, who loops Perera's Voice over a fluid rush of North African percussion and floor-filling pulses. A well-earned breather arrives courtesy of Berlin-based Kenyan ambient legend KMRU, subliming the jazzy Kraut synth track 'Der Wurm' into golden vapors before SLIC€ 9TY8 spins 'Early' into slow-mo sonic syrup. Then 'Hold Tite' materializes once more, this time pushed into the red by Los Angeles-based DJ and producer Maral, and Paris's Aho Ssan brings the album to a celestial conclusion with an expectedly ornate and cinematic reading of 'Like This'.
